Air Bearings Technology
In an aerostatic air bearing, air is continuously fed-in under pressure through a set of small holes, creating a cushion of air between the shaft and bearing surfaces, allowing frictionless high-speed rotation of the shaft to achieve rotational speeds of between 20,000 RPM up to 400,000 RPM.
