Quality Control Technician
Air Bearings Limited (ABL) are a world leading innovative manufacturer of air bearing solutions, used across the engineering spectrum; whilst we are based in Dorset, we provide real world solutions globally.
Due to expansion, we are currently recruiting for an experienced Quality Technician to join us at a busy and exciting time; This is a permanent, full-time position, working within a friendly and supportive team. This role is based at our Ferndown site.
You will join our small, friendly and supportive quality team.

What will the role involve?
- Carry out dimensional and geometric checks on components to ensure they meet strict tolerance requirements.
- Work on batch‑based inspection tasks, which can be repetitive and require strong attention to detail.
- Learn to read and understand technical drawings and quality requirements — full training will be provided.
- Apply accuracy and basic maths skills to support effective measurement and inspection work.
- Support the daily monitoring of production and prototype items, ensuring they comply with specifications using both manual and computer‑aided tools.
- Learn and use appropriate methods for identifying issues, collecting and evaluating data, and contributing to root‑cause analysis and corrective or preventive actions.
- Build positive working relationships within your own section and across other departments.
- Take on additional duties as reasonably required to support the immediate needs of the Company
What will you require?
Skills & Experience:
- Experience within a similar role is desirable, however this is not essential as full training will be given
- Experience within an engineering/manufacturing environment is desirable
- Ability to demonstrate enthusiasm and willingness to take on a variety of tasks, new methods and procedures
- Well organised with the ability to manage time and work to tight deadlines.
- Be a Self-motivated team player
- Ability to operate with the minimum of supervision
- Ability to communicate effectively and clearly with employees at all levels
- IT literate
- Basic maths skills (understanding of decimal places)
- Attention to detail
